On August 19, 2020, the Jiangsu Province Internal‑Shade Insulated Glass Products Industry Quality Alliance held its first working meeting of 2020 in Suzhou. Nearly seventy manufacturers and related enterprises of internal‑shade insulated glass from across the province attended the meeting, which was also attended by Luo Jin, Secretary-General of the Jiangsu Construction Machinery Metal Structures Association; Zhang Yunlong, President of the Doors, Windows, Curtain Walls, and Shading Industry Branch; Jiang Meiqin, Secretary-General of the Branch; and Lü Hui, Deputy Secretary-General of the provincial association. Suzhou Huadong Coating Co., Ltd., as a vice‑presidential unit of the provincial association and the leading entity of the provincial internal‑louvered glass quality alliance, served as the sole host of this meeting, with General Manager Zhang Genfang presiding over the proceedings.

During the conference, delegates toured the production workshop of Suzhou Huadong Coated Glass Co., Ltd., expressing admiration for the company’s large-scale operations, state-of-the-art equipment, strong technical expertise, and well-organized on-site management.

Zhang Yunlong outlined the purpose of this conference, noting that internally shaded insulated glass units, following their promotion and application by the Provincial Department of Housing and Urban–Rural Development and relevant authorities, have made significant progress in recent years thanks to the concerted efforts of industry players. At present, these products account for 80% or more of all exterior shading solutions used in residential buildings across Jiangsu Province. However, as the province’s energy‑saving policies and standards continue to tighten, the industry faces substantial challenges; how to adapt to these evolving demands is the central issue under discussion at this conference.

At the conference, Luo Jin delivered a report titled “Policy Development and Technological Innovation in High-Performance Building Exterior Windows,” outlining key provisions of the draft standards currently under public consultation: the “Jiangsu Province Standard for Thermal Environment and Energy Efficiency Design of Residential Buildings,” the “Green Building Design Standard,” and the “Residential Building Design Standard.” During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Jiangsu will fully implement a 75% building energy‑saving standard, raising the minimum thermal transmittance coefficient of windows and doors to 1.8 W/m²·K. This poses new challenges for manufacturers of exterior windows, particularly those producing insulated glass units with integrated shading systems. Luo Jin also presented innovative approaches and ideas for advancing high-performance exterior window technologies, covering six areas: thermal insulation, fire‑resistant windows, sound‑insulating windows, integrated ventilation windows, and standardized system‑window solutions.

Jiang Meiqin presented the latest industry standard, “Built-in Sun-Shading Insulated Glass Products” (JG/T 255-2020). By comparing the new and old standards, she provided a detailed overview of the type‑test items and sampling requirements under the revised standard, covering aspects such as structural design, performance test criteria, and performance parameters. She also offered recommendations on how to enhance the thermal performance of built-in sun-shading insulated glass products.

At the meeting, participants engaged in a lively discussion on how companies can properly implement the new standards in the current context of building energy efficiency. Rotating chair‑unit representatives—including Ning Xiaolong of Zhongcheng Group, Shen Yinrui of Kela Saik, Huang Ting of Jiangyin Wuyue, and Zhang Genfang of Huadong Coating—each shared their perspectives, unanimously agreeing that elevating industry‑wide technical capabilities, product quality, and brand reputation is an urgent priority. Related ancillary‑material suppliers also addressed the forum, urging manufacturers of internally shaded insulated glass units to select qualified components to ensure product quality.

Luo Jin delivered a concluding address, noting that the industry, through the alliance and grounded in quality, has played a pivotal role in driving progress. He commended the alliance’s work and achievements and set forth expectations for its future endeavors.
