As a key urban landmark in Funing, the Chengfa Building integrates government offices, public services, and other functions, placing stringent demands on both its exterior transparency and internal performance. Situated in a region with highly variable weather—characterized by scorching summers and bitterly cold winters—and serving as a prominent civic showcase, the building must balance energy efficiency with aesthetic appeal. Consequently, the selection of its glass curtain wall has become a critical component of the project.

Solution:

In response to the project requirements, East China Coating has customized a long‑lasting sealed 4SG insulated glass solution. This configuration features a laminated structure composed of 6 mm ultra‑clear semi‑tempered glass and 6 mm LOW‑E glass, with 1.14 mm PVB interlayer enhancing safety. Paired with a 12 mm argon inert gas spacer and 4SG sealing technology, it effectively inhibits heat transfer, significantly improving thermal insulation and heat‑blocking performance. The outer layer of 8 mm ultra‑clear tempered glass not only ensures the curtain wall’s impact resistance but, thanks to the high light transmittance of the ultra‑clear glass, delivers a pure, transparent visual effect under varying lighting conditions.

Project Outcomes:

Following the successful implementation of the collaboration, 35,000 square meters of custom‑made glass have been fully integrated into the building’s curtain wall. Field measurements show that the glass’s thermal transmittance has been reduced by more than 30%, lowering air-conditioning loads in summer and maintaining a stable indoor temperature in winter, with substantial annual energy savings. Meanwhile, an advanced long‑lasting sealing technology ensures that the glass remains free of fogging or condensation even in humid conditions.
