Collaborative Products: Ultra-low‑energy triple‑glazed, double‑chamber, long‑lasting sealed 4SG insulated glass unit, configured as follows: 6 mm clear tempered glass + 9Ar(G)TPS/4SG + 6 mm LOW‑E Super1+#3 tempered glass + 9Ar(G)TPS/4SG + 6 mm LOW‑E Super1+#5 tempered glass.
Collaborative Usage: 8,000㎡
Customer Background:
In recent years, Gumei Subdistrict in Shanghai has steadily advanced the renovation of older residential neighborhoods and the development of low‑carbon communities. In 2024, the subdistrict launched a large‑scale public‑interest project that encompasses façade refurbishment and energy‑efficiency upgrades across eight residential complexes. The initiative seeks to enhance living conditions while preserving the original architectural character, with particular emphasis on upgrading building materials to improve sound insulation, thermal performance, and material compatibility—addressing longstanding issues such as stifling summer heat and high winter energy consumption in older buildings.
Solution:
In response to the project’s requirements, Huadong Coating has customized an ultra‑low‑energy, triple‑glazed, two‑cavity, long‑life sealed 4SG insulated glass solution. This product features a multi‑layer composite structure: 6 mm white tempered glass + 9Ar (G) TPS/4SG + 6 mm LOW‑E‑Super1+#3 tempered glass + 9Ar (G) TPS/4SG + 6 mm LOW‑E‑Super1+#5 tempered glass. By employing a dual‑seal TPS/4SG technology, it enhances airtightness; an internal 9 mm argon gas layer further improves thermal insulation; and a double‑silver LOW‑E coating reduces the U‑value even more. The system comprehensively meets energy‑efficiency standards and structural safety requirements, ultimately securing a total order of 8,000 m².
Project Outcomes:
Following project implementation, third-party testing confirmed that the glass’s thermal transmittance (U‑value) is as low as 1.2 W/(m²·K), significantly exceeding national energy‑efficiency standards and expected to reduce the building’s annual air-conditioning energy consumption by more than 30%. Meanwhile, a long‑lasting sealing technology ensures a service life of over 20 years, thereby lowering subsequent maintenance costs. According to feedback from the Shanghai Gumei Subdistrict Renovation Office, indoor noise levels in the renovated community have been reduced by more than 15 decibels, with resident satisfaction reaching 98%. This solution has established a replicable model for upgrading building materials in the subdistrict’s efforts to build low‑carbon communities.
